TVACC Framework
TVVACC is a framework proposed by Companion Animal Productions LTD for contemporary filmmaking practices to follow with an anti-hierarchal, ethical structure that allows room for marginalised creatives to thrive in an otherwise inaccessible industry. It stands for Transparency, Voice, Vision, Accessibility, Communication and Compassion. One pillar cannot be removed, or the whole framework crumbles, each element must be equally prioritised. We also acknowledge that this is a working framework, and other elements may be added at later stages.
TVVACC is a simplified version of Gabriel Canine’s “Canine Cross Reference“. The Canine Cross Reference is a document that is intended to be used to “cross reference“ narratives that include otherwise overshadowed creatives and identities. It proposes a new approach to representing multiply marginalised narratives both behind and in front of the camera. The CCR is not yet available to the public, but for enquiries and updates please email Gabriel at gabrielcanine@companionanimalproductions.com.
Transparency
No hidden agendas on set, clear expectations, timelines and tasks . Everyone who needs to be in the loop, is in the loop.
Voice
Clear narrative perspectives, and understanding why we have that perspective. Marginalised narratives by marginalised people involved every step of the way. No stories about us without us.
Vision
Unique and determined stories that make a big splash.
Accessibility
Understanding and ensuring accommodations are in place for everyone. Being an advocate and being proactive. Allyship and advocacy without being asked.
Communication
Open narratives, information is relayed clearly and directly.
Compassion
Professional kindness and an acknowledgement of collective and hidden struggles.
